Dear Concertgoer,
In the commemorative year of Mohács 500, we pay tribute to the heroes of the Battle of Mohács through a wide range of events and programs. Among these, one of the most remarkable is this international choir festival, which, through the wonder of the human voice, brings to us the most fundamental message of remembrance.
When we sing together, the „I" dissolves into the „we." The magic unfolds before our very ears: when a choral work begins to resonate, the individual parts—though each sings something different—support and enrich one another. Different life journeys, different tones and timbres merge into a single, pure unity. Just as five hundred years ago, on the battlefield, different lives were woven together into one strength in pursuit of a common cause.
Song, as a universal language, is an ideal means of expressing our shared feelings and deepest emotions. It transcends and bridges both physical and cultural distances. Thus, within each choral work, it is not only notes that meet, but also history, tradition, and human destinies.
Here in Mohács, during these days and in the year marking the five-hundredth anniversary of the battle, this singing that reaches across borders reminds us that wherever we may come from, we are united by our respect for heroism, and by our longing for harmony and peace.
The festival has ended. The archived program, participant pages and venues remain available.
